About Marc Frederic
(The CEO of WOWP)

Marc Frederic has written creatively during the vast majority of his life. He is considered to be a somewhat unique individual in several respects.  Marc’s right brain has for years produced writings on various subjects in numerous genres, while his left brain, as a financial advisor with a major brokerage firm, enjoyed successfully guiding clients through the maze of financial markets.

Now retired from the financial industry to pursue and convey his writing ability, Marc shares his talent not simply by writing books, but through his special skill of quoting many of his works from memory.

His alter-ego, Mr. Whimsy, was created during a book publishing class in 2004, when other students, knowing that Marc’s publishing company was named World of Whimsy Productions, continuously referred to him as such.
Mr. Whimsy, as he is now known in book circles, writes not simply for youngsters, but for the child within the adult.  As he likes to say to grown-ups, “We each have one inside us. We all are built that way. It’s fun to let them guide us. Can yours come out and play?”

When not immersed in the World of Whimsy, itself, Marc enjoys and is devoted to his charming wife of many years.  Together they have fun exploring the world and seeing their five grandchildren discover, learn and earn the joys of life.

The Origin of the BENNY’S PETS Series

I am often asked what made me think of and create BENNY’S PETS and its sequels.  My simple response is “boredom.”  The more complicated answer is…
I’ve learned that it pays to write whenever I have a short period of time during which I am obligated to “wait” for something.  Writing annihilates boredom, prevents impatience, produces words that might be of value, and generally puts me in a fine frame of mind.
In our hotel room on the Caribbean island of Cozumel, Mexico I was waiting for my wife to prepare herself for our first SCUBA dive.  While doing so, I created six short verses about animals (starting with Girella Giraffe) who visit various places throughout the world …

It does make me laugh to think my giraffe
now SCUBA’s in warm Cozumel.
She’s truly a sight, gives fishes a fright,
dives deep for a peep at a shell!

(The original giraffe was a male.  The last line of the verse was, “dives deeper than does my gazelle!”  However, I liked the alliteration of the words, “deep” and “peep,” and didn’t think a male would “peep at a shell.”  Had I written the verse for grown-ups, I might have ended the verse with “arranged it all through our hotel.”)

During our return trip the following year, my wife took BENNY’S PETS to the next level by reminding me of the verses I had composed the year before.  Together we reminisced about how easy it had been, as children, to imagine all we might do with a million dollars. We thought of owning our very own zoo and traveling extensively.  I created the beginning and ending of the book that year.  During subsequent vacations, I wrote additional verses for the fun of it. Eventually I had a vast collection of verses from which to select.  With help, I found an excellent illustrator, printer, etc., and there you have it…BENNY’S PETS was born!
